Wizards Win Girl’s HS Summer League Title

The more things change, the more they stay the same… This could be the mantra of the Wizards’ summer team because for the 4th consecutive season the Wizards have won the Girl’s High School League Championship at the New England Sports Center.

The Wizards steamrolled the regular season going 12-1 and outscoring opponents 66-19. Even more impressively, every member of the team made an entry on the scoresheet over the course of the season.

The playoffs were a 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3 format, so the Wizards opened against the 4th seeded Auburn High School. Unfortunately for Auburn, the battle-tested Wizards were ready for the challenge and grounded the Rockets en route to a 9-0 win.

And so it was on to the finals against Westford / Littleton. The game was a back and forth battle with the Wizards going up and the Ghosts coming back. Until finally with just over 2 minutes left, and in a 4-3 game, Charlotte Wright scored on a top shelf dart that allowed a little breathing room and clinched the 5-3 win and the 4th consecutive league championship.

It was a heck of a season, but more importantly it was a lot of fun. We are all looking forward to next year’s run at 5 straight!
